Happy Holidays

Journal Entry: Mon Dec 21, 2009, 8:33 PM

I just want to extend a very happy holidays to all my friends here at DA.
I haven't been able to be here in a while but I haven't forgotten any of you. You are like my second family.
So much has been going on here at home and I have been spending a lot of time with my sculpting which does keep me very busy.
My son moved in with us recently because of issues with life and has needed more of my time also.
Beth and I went to Kansas City, Missouri last week and added a new member to our family. His name is Jesse and he is a Poshie. That is a half Pomeranian and toy Sheltie. He's quite the character and keeps me very busy with training him. He is a sweetie though.
I hope all is well with all of you and as I get my life back in order I do hope to get back into the swing of things here at DA.
Take care and MERRY CHRISTMAS!!!.....................................Phil

Been Busy.....Jeez!!

Journal Entry: Sat Sep 26, 2009, 7:51 PM

I'm so fricking behind again!! Been busy and I've had little time for the computer as of late.
This is mainly because the real world just won't leave me alone!!!

I want to thank everyone for the :+fav:'s while I've been absent, they are appreciated.

I'm hoping to have more time soon to get back into the groove here. It sure doesn't take very long to get way behind on everything and everyone. :faint:

If I'm doing a lot of :+fav:'s without comment I apologize. I need to catch up so I'll be using the "Hit and Run" method for the most part. Thanks for understanding!!

Hope all of you are doing well and I'll be talking to you soon......I Hope!!! :lmao:

U.S. Nationals and Features

Journal Entry: Sun Sep 6, 2009, 5:59 PM

My son and I went over to Indianapolis to O'Reilly's Raceway Park for the biggest event of the year for the NHRA Drag Racing Series. The Nationals!! We had a great day and a great time.
Matt and I try to go by ourselves once a year to the Drags (Father-Son thing) and this year I thought for his birthday we would do the Nationals. 8000 horse power cracking open shaking everything and literally moving the air is something you have to experience to understand. It's unreal!! Cars going 300+ miles per hour in less than a quarter of a mile is intense.
I'll be posting some photos of the event. And if your thinking my hands were shaky you would be wrong.

AFTER FURTHER REVIEW........

Journal Entry: Thu Aug 20, 2009, 7:53 PM

I had told certain friends here that I would make a decision as to the
situation with the "Share This" feature that was added stealthily with
no fanfare or feedback.
One of the great things about being someone who lives in a democracy is
you have "OPTIONS"!! God forbid that should be spoken out loud!!! :faint: If I
want to say NO to something I can!! DAMMIT!! On the other hand my "OPTIONS"
can also say YES if I so desire unless of course I'm breaking the law.....
God forbid!! :lmao: "OPT-OUT" should be available. It's your decision!! Jeez!!
I have read all the different entries on this issue both good and bad over the course of
this whole blow-up since it began.
I've tried to make a point of not getting involved with the politics of this
place simply because I had a good idea early on what the attitude could be and
more importantly I wanted to advance my work by getting good feedback from others
here and have fun. If I needed a dispute all I had to do was go to work!!

My points are several and very long winded.....:D

First I felt the way this whole situation was handled by some of the Admins.
and owners as very amateurish and in some cases just plain childish.

I've been here for over 5 years. A good friend of mine, who I had met at another
Art site, told me he had had some issues here early on. This was before I decided to join
DeviantArt!!

Now since I've been here they kicked one guy out of the ownership. There was legal action
taken etc, etc. This was 3-4 yrs ago?? Spyed basically took over. (Someone correct me
if I'm wrong on that.)

We've had Version3-V4-on and on. People had complaints, that fair enough, but I personally
felt that for the most part they were good changes.

There's been an on-going issue with art theft even before "Share This" was introduced. I have
felt all along that they have really dropped the ball on this one. Now I realize you can't stop
art theft on the Internet if someone really wants it but I never felt that the movers and shakers
here ever really took it as serious as they should have. At least not by all appearances.

*TAKES DEEP BREATH*

My point is this: Although I'm disappointed in how they introduced "Share This" it just
doesn't surprise me that they did it this way or the way certain admins. reacted. Snobbishly. It's in
their genes. They think by being smart-asses their being funny. I admit I found some of it
amusing. I understood their attempt at humor. But...your an Administrator!! An Owner!! Act like it!!

My decision is pretty simple...I'm staying and I'm going to enjoy my friends and their art.
I like it here. I put little effort in trying to understand why they handle things the way
they do. It would probably hurt if I tried!!

As for the "Share This" feature...I don't like the way it was put into the process but I
also don't believe it is really going to hurt me in the long run. Just my opinion.

I absolutely respect all of my friends opinions and decision to store their art. Again, that's
one of the great points of freedom. You can make the decision!!

As for my friends that are leaving...I'm going to miss you sorely. All my friends here are
important to me. I'll admit I'm much closer to some than others, it's the nature of this
place but I'll miss anyone that leaves that I watch.

*Sucking for Air*

I'm done......can't breathe!! :faint:
